Streetwise Guide to Personal Safety
Streetwise, a joint partnership between Maccabi GB and the CST, are pleased to announce the new ‘Streetwise Guide to Personal Safety’ - a booklet designed to encourage young people to think responsibly about their personal safety. It is packed with common sense guidance on issues such as chatting on mobile phones, using the internet, going out with friends and what do in threatening situations and is based on the popular guide produced by the Suzy Lamplugh Trust
In addition, a plastic information card is included at the back of the booklet, containing important numbers that children and teenagers may need. It also contains space for them to write their personal emergency contact details.
One of the most vulnerable groups in our community is our young people. Whilst Jewish schools are usually well protected, pupils are highly visible and vulnerable away from the school premises. Young people who do not attend Jewish schools are also susceptible to attack, both inside and outside of school.
Socially, young Jewish people congregate together when out and about, drawing attention to themselves and their vulnerability. With antisemitic attacks now numbering more than one per day in this country, the ‘Streetwise Guide to Personal Safety’ is vital for every young Jewish person.

Together with the new booklet, we hope to encourage them to think responsibly, and to provide them with the skills and confidence they need to become aware of personal safety issues.”
